GABE FAIRBROTHER TARGETS TITLE IN THIRD COOPER CAMPAIGN
Gabe Fairbrother has his sights firmly fixed on challenging for the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE Trophy title after confirming his return to the grid for a third season.
On the back of a solid rookie campaign, Fairbrother emerged as one of the stars of the 2024 season having re-signed with multiple champions EXCELR8 for a second year, with the youngster being the only driver who was classified as a finisher in every race.
Kicking off his season with a podium finish at Snetterton, Fairbrother would be a constant presence inside the top ten and proved to be the in-form driver in the closing stages of the year – scoring seven podium finishes from the final ten races.
That included an impressive weekend at Croft, where he qualified on the front row of the grid before battling his way to two race wins.
The late season run saw Fairbrother head into the Brands Hatch finale amongst those drivers still in contention for the title before ending the campaign in fourth overall.
Eager to build on the huge strides forwards he made during 2024, Fairbrother returns with EXCELR8 for a third year amongst the expected favourites for the championship title, with the 18-year-old being the highest placed returning driver to have confirmed their place on the grid.
“We showed what we can do last year when the package was right and our results during the last four events was something to be really proud of,” he said. “We’re determined to continue that form in 2025. EXCELR8 Motorsport have all the expertise needed to win this title and our campaign will be aiming to do exactly that.”
Team Owner Justina Williams said she was delighted to be able to retain Fairbrother for a third season to spearhead EXCELR8’s title challenge.
“Gabe showed a lot of potential in his rookie season, but he really stepped up to another level last year,” she said. “To finish every race inside the top ten in such a competitive championship is no mean feat, and during the second half of the season, he was arguably the driver to beat.
“There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Gabe will be amongst the championship contenders this season and we’re confident that this will be a hugely successful year together on track.”
